7/1/09: Cyclist killed in Seward accident

A bicyclist was killed in a traffic accident in Seward on Friday.

Police say 22-year-old Brianne Toth, of Seward, died after being struck by a semi.

6/30/09: Another London woman cyclist killed by a lorry driver

The pictures in the full article are rather sobering...

A WOMAN cyclist has been crushed to death by a lorry in front of hundreds of commuters on their way to work. These images show the scene after a woman, in her 30s, fell under the front wheel of the lorry as it turned left from Clapham Road into Harleyford Street, by Oval Tube station.

Witnesses said she became trapped between the lorry and railings at the height of morning rush hour, just after 8.30am yesterday. She was rushed to hospital but died a few hours later.

6/30/09: Bicyclist Killed Monday Night in Bakersfield, Driver Arrested

The driver had the decency to turn himself in...

A 55-year-old man died after he was struck by a car while riding his bike, authorities said. Alton Saceaux of Bakersfield was pedaling south in the right-hand lane of four-lane South Union Avenue when he was hit about 10:45 p.m. by a Ford-F350 pickup truck, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver of the truck, identified as 67-year-old Douglas Kaiser, left the scene, but later returned when he learned a driving under the influence investigation had begun, authorities said.

6/30/09: Cyclist killed near Mosgiel

A cyclist is believed to be dead after a fatal crash on State Highway 1, 20km southwest of Dunedin, this afternoon.

The road 4km south of Mosgiel was closed at 3.20pm and was expected to reopen by 6:30pm, police said.

6/30/09: Runaway SUV killed Burlington couple, Hamilton cyclist

Hannah Gordon-Roche and Jeffery Roche were married June 6.

The Burlington couple, both 29, was killed June 26 by an out-of-control SUV Friday, just four days after returning from their honeymoon.

An 81-year-old cyclist, Tong Vi Duong of Hamilton, was also killed in the late afternoon series of collisions that left a trail of destruction along York Boulevard near the High Level Bridge and closed the road for 11 hours.

The tragedy unfolded at 5:28 p.m. Friday when a black, Ford Explorer driving north on York Boulevard at the start of the High Level Bridge hit a cyclist.

Witnesses say the SUV continued north dragging the cyclist for about 15 metres and then continued around a curve and eastbound across the bridge before colliding with the rear of a small, eastbound sedan near Valley Inn Road. The car then bounced into the path of an oncoming pickup truck at Valley Inn Road near the border with Halton.

The driver, 40-year-old Allan Maki, of Stoney Creek, has been charged with three counts of criminal negligence causing death and three counts of dangerous driving causing death.

6/29/09: Bicyclist Killed By SUV In Apparen

Since the driver was drunk we can hope that charges will be filed...

A bicyclist in his 40s has been killed by an SUV in an apparent DUI, Metro police said.The crash occurred at about 3:15 p.m. Monday in the area of 3736 E. Desert Inn Rd.Witnesses told police the SUV had traveled up and down the curb a few times before hitting the bicyclist.

6/29/09: River Valley rider killed in crash

I'm not sure what it means to "tip into the road," but apparently the cyclist was struck from behind...

A 43-year-old bicycle rider from Slinger died Sunday after a crash during the River Valley Bike Ride near the Town of Trenton in Washington County, the local sheriff's department reported.

According to the release, Patrick Wagner tipped into the roadway on St. Augustine Rd. and into the path of a west-bound pick up truck. The truck and Wagner went off the north side of the road into the ditch.
