6/18/09: Bicyclist Killed After Struck by Car

Bill Hicks, 69, was killed on Thursday after he was struck by a car while ridding his bicycle on Second Avenue in Rome. Hicks was riding down the exit ramp from the levee near Broad Street when he was struck by a car driven by Mellany Murdock. Witnesses said that Hicks did not slow down when he suddenly entered the southbound lane. Murdock was not found at fault and was not cited.
